In – 配合較概括及較長久嘅時間字句

  • 世紀 the 1800’s/ the 20th century
  • 年代 the 1990’s
  • 年 2016
  • 季節 (the) spring/ summer/ fall/ winter
  • 月份 September
  • 星期 1 week
  • 早上、下午、黃昏 (the) morning/ afternoon/ evening
  • 以往 the past

e.g. Hong Kong was just a fishing village in the past.
香港在過去只是一個漁村。

e.g. I will start revising in the afternoon.
我會在下午開始溫習。

On – 配合較具體，較短暫嘅時間字句

  • 星期幾 Monday/ Sunday
  • 星期幾+一天內某段時間 Monday morning/ Sunday evening
  • 具體日期 September 1/ September 1st, 2016
  • 周末（美式英語）或平日 the weekend (US)/ a weekday
  • 生日 my birthday
  • 除夕 New Year’s Eve

e.g. Let’s go to Disneyland on Sunday.
我們星期日去迪士尼樂園吧。

e.g. School starts on September 1st.
學校於9月1日開學。

At – 配合非常具體，牽涉時數甚短嘅時間字句

  • 時刻 4pm/ 11:30/ 10 o’clock
  • 中午、晚上、午夜 Noon/ night/ midnight
  • 日出或日落 Sunrise/ sunset
  • 周末（英式英語）the weekend
  • 節日 Easter/ Christmas

e.g. I woke up at 8 o’clock this morning.
我今早8點醒來。

e.g. The scenery here is magnificent at sunrise.
這裡的景色在日出時十分壯麗。
