唔少學生反映係學英文單字嘅時候，覺得好多字嘅串法同意思都好類似，有時係作文嘅時候，唔知用邊一個好。我哋就準備咗「英文單字101」呢個系列，幫大家解析一d相似嘅單字嘅正確用法！

 

今期嘅主角就係consistent、constant和persistent，佢哋都可以用黎描述人或事物「始終如一、不變」嘅狀態。但係唔同情況下，佢哋有好大分別架，一起黎學下啦！

 

1. Consistent指人的行為、態度或事物的標準一致、始終如一

 

它通常強調行為表現穩定或者事物之間的標準始終保持一致。比如：consistent performance（穩定的表現）；consistent support（一貫的支持）。

 

The young tennis player has been consistent throughout the championship.

這位年輕的網球運動員整個錦標賽中的表現很穩定。

 

「一件事情的兩個或多個事實相符、吻合」，也應該用consistent，比如：consistent results（相吻合的結果）。也可以搭配be consistent with（與……相符、一致）。

 

Still, the results are consistent with the evidence.

盡管如此，研究結果與證據是一致的。

 

2. Constant強調一件事情或一個狀態是連續發生、不間斷的

 

Lately, I’ve been under constant stress and I can’t sleep at night.

最近，我一直處於壓力之下，晚上睡不著覺。

 

3. Persistent用來形容人或事物很執著、反覆出現

 

在形容人的時候，意思是 「堅持不懈的、頑固的」；在形容事物的時候，意思是「久久不退的」。 

 

He is regarded as a tenacious and persistent interviewer. 

他被認為是個執著堅毅的采訪者。 

 

There has been persistent rain in this town for several months. 

這個小鎮連續下了幾個月的雨。
