1. Dog days of summer

e.g. The dog days of summer are just around the corner.

2. He has seen the elephant

e.g. He has a range of experiences, good and bad, in his life. He has seen the elephant.

3. Kill the goose that lays the golden egg

e.g. If the government tighten visa regulations for tourists entering Hong Kong, they would kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

4. When Pigs Fly

e.g. 朋友A:I’ll wake up at 6am on Sunday to clean my room.
你:Yes, you’ll do that when pigs fly!

5. Crocodile tears

e.g. Don’t shed crocodile tears over his death, it makes me sick.
