When you’re at the check-in counter, you might hear some of the following questions or sentences.
- Do you have an e-ticket?
- May I have your passport, please?
- Do you have a carry-on bag?
- Are you checking any bags?
- Would you like a window seat or an aisle seat?
- Could you place your bag on the scale?
- Is the flight on time?
- You’ll board at Gate 102.
- When should I be at the gate?
- I’m afraid your passport has expired.
- Your baggage is overweight.
Here’s an example.
Staff: Good afternoon. May I have your ticket and passport, please?
Me: Here you are.
Staff: Are you checking any bags?
Me: No. I’ve only got one carry-on bag.
Staff: Okay. Would you like a window seat or an aisle seat?
Me: Window, please.
Staff: Sure, no problem…. I can give you K1, by the window…Here’s your boarding pass. You’ll board at Gate 102. Your flight departs at 4:30pm. Please be at the gate 30 minutes before departure. Enjoy your flight.
Me: Thanks.
When you’re lost at the airport, you can ask:
- Where’s the check-in counter for Wall Street Airlines?
- Excuse me, where is Gate 102?
- How do I get to Gate 102?
When you need to go through the customs, you might hear…
- Please lay your bags flat on the conveyor belt, and use the bins for small objects.
- Take off your shoes.
- Do you have anything in your pockets – keys, cell phone?
- You must dump all food or beverages.
When you’re waiting for your flight at the gate, you might hear some of the following sentences.
- Wall Street Airlines Flight A241 to Osaka is now boarding.
- Please have your boarding pass and passport ready for boarding.
- We’re now inviting passengers with small children to begin boarding.
- We would like to invite all passengers to board.
- This is the final boarding call for Wall Street Airlines Flight A241 to Osaka.
