Hi there, this is Jesse from Wall Street English.

Do you still remember the last time you heard supportive words from someone when you were in tough time? Words are powerful. A word of encouragement or support during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success. So, we are going to talk about some supportive expressions which you can say when you want to show your support to someone.

1. I am rooting for you.

To root for someone means to express your support for the success of someone.

e.g. Keep up the good work. I am rooting for you.

2. I have got your back.

In everyday speech, this expression is used a lot in the sense that I will take care of whatever you need to do while you are away, or unable to do it yourself.

e.g. If you ever need help, just ask. You know I have got your back – as always.

3. You can always count on me.

To count on someone means to rely on someone.

e.g. When tough times come, you know you can always count on me.

4. I am here to help.

If you tell someone this, you are showing your support by meaning you are right there ready to give support whenever needed.

e.g. I understand that you have a burden to carry on your own, but remember that if you would like help to bear the weight, I am here to help.

Words are powerful tools, and giving support doesn’t hurt. I hope you find these expressions useful. Remember – we’ve got your back when it comes to problems about English.

That’s all for today! See you next time.
