【淆底英文點講?】 我哋平時經常使用「淆底」嚟形容膽小鬼,臨陣「縮沙」,驚驚青青/畏首畏尾/怯懦,或做咗虧心事嘅人;咁究竟用英文點講呢? 1.Get cold feet 膽小/驚青(所以想)臨陣退縮 意思係突然對計劃好要做嘅事情(尤其是重要大事)感到驚恐/害怕;想臨陣退縮。 e.g. Mary got cold feet when asked to deliver a speech. 當被要求發表公開演講時,,Mary因害怕而萌生臨陣退縮的念頭。 2.Chicken-hearted/ Chicken out/ (a) Chicken guy 「淆底」原來同雞有關?原來好幾個有關「淆底」嘅俚語都有"chicken"一字: Chicken out:「淆底」/「縮沙」 另外要注意:"chicken out"意思較"get cold feet"負面,應小心運用。 e.g. Mary was going to ride the roller coaster with me, but she chickened out.
